Peruvian Temecula Restaurant
Tasty Food and Health Benefits!

Lucho's Peruvian Temecula Restaurant - an excellent choice.

As your stomach starts to grumble, why not indulge in the exoticness of international cuisine, such as the Peruvian Temecula restaurant named Lucho's.

Peruvian Temecula Restaurant

Upon entering the restaurant, you may catch the scent of Pollo a la Brassa in the air - a house specialty consisting of rotisserie chicken seasoned with Peruvian herbs and a "secret" sauce.

The engaging interior welcomes you with a palette of deep gold, and rich shades of reds and browns. Wrought-Iron décor with hanging chilies, candles, and flowerpots decorate the walls – infusing character and charm into this eatery that I strongly recommend.

Exploring the Peruvian Menu
Lucho's Peruvian Temecula Restaurant follows a menu highlighting Novo Andean cuisine, which mostly relies upon seafood, chicken, hen, duck, beef, vegetables, and grains. Healthy-conscious diners will be happy to know that the potatoes, beans, barley, quinua, and other ingredients provide essential vitamins and nutrients for a well-balanced diet. If you have any questions regarding the food, don’t hesitate to ask your server, who is more than happy to explain the menu and offer tidbits of information regarding the culture.

This is gorgeous Nora our server, she was full of information about the menu and made us feel very welcomed. She really has a lovely way about her and a beautiful infectious smile.

Appetizers: As you scan Lucho's menu, consider starting off with an appetizer, such as Ceviche de Pescado (marinated fish in spicy lemon juice) or Papa a la Huancaina (boiled potato slices smothered in a spicy cheese sauce), which I had the pleasure of savoring. A tantalizing creamy sauce, that I never wanted to end, accompanied the baby potatoes.

Main Courses: As you approach the selections for your main course, keep in mind that the truly adventurous eater may find joy in sampling a dish under the Super Criollo collection. Here, you will find boiled chicken or pork blood (Sangrecita), marinated beef tripe with Peruvian spices (Pancita), and grilled beef tripe with barbequed potatoes (Rachi). However, I decided on the Seco de Carne – a beef stew served with Peruvian beans and steamed rice for $13. Oh, and don't forget to taste the 'Giant Corn' imported specially from Peru, it's delicious and so very different from regular corn.

Peruvian Temecula RestaurantSalads and Sides: For a different twist on the typical salad, Tomates Rellenos offers fresh tomatoes stuffed with a mixture of vegetables. Additional selections to consider at Lucho's Peruvian Temecula Restaurant include soups like chicken with rice, beef and vegetables, and a crème soup with blended vegetables. Sides include Yucas Fritas (fried Peruvian yucca called cassava) and rice that comes in brilliant shades of white, red, or orange. Salsa Criolla is also quite popular, which offers delicious marinated onions in lemon juice cooked with or without the hot Peruvian chile called rocoto.

Desserts: To finish off an experience you may never want to end, desserts at Lucho's include a rice and milk treat called Arroz con Leche; Picarones (Peruvian fried doughnuts made with squash and sweet potatoes, and served with fig syrup); and Helado de Lucuma, an ice cream consisting of an Amazonian wild fruit called Lucuma. We chose the ice cream and also tasted Alfajores – Peruvian cookies filled with mouth-watering ‘Marjablanco” (sweet milk).

Beverages: At Lucho's Peruvian Temecula Restaurant, this is a good time to pass on the Pepsi and discover the addicting tastes of Peruvian beverages. I had the pleasure of washing down my delicious meal with a soft drink called Chicha Morada, which demanded a repeat performance. I gladly paid the extra $2.50 for another. On the other hand Allen, my husband fell in love with the unique flavor of Inka Cola ($2) – a Peruvian soda with "Hierba Luisa," which is said to possess digestive powers. This aromatic ingredient is also known to contain essential oils that treats bad breath, relaxes nerves, and prevents flatulence.

Cocktails, Wine, and Beer: Celebrating a special occasion? Consider Lucho's for a celebratory cocktail – perhaps the Amazon – which is made with maracuya – a wild fruit of the Peruvian jungle. Wine and beer selections are rather satisfying at this Peruvian Temecula restaurant, as you may also choose between the likes of familiar favorites, such as Corona and Budweiser.

The Health Benefits of Peruvian Food and Drink

Not only is the food a true delight at Lucho's, but also the health benefits are well worth the visit. For instance, let's take the Chicha Morada. With a similar look to grape juice, this sweet item is made with purple corn – although it's pretty hard to tell. A cinnamon aftertaste lingers with a hint of wheat that actually resembles rice pudding.

During ancient Incan times, this beverage was a lunchtime staple in Lima, where purple corn was boiled with spices and fruit peelings of pineapples or apples. After the drink is allowed to cool, sugar and citrus juice are added and then served chilled.

For many years, purple corn has been highly regarded for its high level of antioxidants and nutritive results. When used as a daily part of the diet, many medical concerns are treated or prevented including cardiovascular problems and possibly cancer cell growth.

and his sister Nora Velarde.
Lucho's is owned by husband and wife, Italo and Ursula Velarde.

Overall, the journey into the culinary world of Lucho's (an exceptional Peruvian Temecula restaurant) was so powerful that it even allowed me to revisit memories of a past visit to South America. With my sincerest recommendation, it is also my hope that you too will be able to enjoy the depth of this international delight.
