Brief History
The Temecula Jazz Festival is a blend of free and ticketed concert events that provides the talent of performers with an international appeal. Spread across different venues about town, this gathering of new and old friends also presents workshops centered on music and rhythm.
Clinics with the performers also provide an additional perk for guests enjoying the festivities.
The first Temecula jazz festival was held in 2004, followed by a prosperous year that showcased the distinct abilities of saxophonist Everette Harp and the renowned Alex Acuna, which was held at the South Coast Winery Resort and Spa.
In the past, the celebration took place in April and May, but nowadays – the festival takes place in different months of the year, including July. There is no telling what month will bring the rhythmic escape of the tunes that made ragtime, Dixieland, and swing shine.

General Information
This annual Temecula festival entertains the masses with an assortment of notable, as well as 'up and coming' jazz stars decorating a schedule that changes with every year. Past entertainers have included pianist Mose Allison and smooth jazz saxophonist Shannon Kennedy.
Recurring features of this entertaining celebration include:
• Main Street Art Faire: Gather for a wealth of food, art, and music, as the Chuck Niles Jazz Music Award competition finalists strut their stuff.
• Main Street Saturday Night Stage: As night takes over the overall atmosphere of the Temecula Jazz Festival setting, the Main Street Saturday Night Stage presents a handful of concerts highlighting the style of various entertainers.
• In remembrance of the "Hippest Cat in Hollywood"...
The Chuck Niles Jazz Music Award has become a memorable part of the festival. Each year, the Niles family holds an open competition, allowing finalists a chance to dominate the Main Street Art Faire Stage.
Chuck Niles is pictured to the right of this photo.
If you are interested in participating in this event, you should know that the judges are only interested in scanning the genre of music that would most appeal to Chuck, including Big Band, Swing, Latin, Be-Bop, and vocal talent.
Since an overwhelming response has poured in over the years, the Niles family has recently decided to offer a Chuck Niles Be-Bop Award in addition to the Chuck Niles Jazz Singer Award this year.
Finalists often perform 45-minute sets on the Chuck Niles Stage – usually found on the corner of Front and Main streets in
Old Town Temecula.
This is an exciting opportunity for any musician, as winners receive a day filled with recording time at Park Hill Music (Gwen Gordy Studios).
